Pro Plus features
Pro PlusWhen you start a Pro Plus trial - as a new pilot or by upgrading from Casual or Pro - PlaneWX sends a welcome note and shows a short list of Pro Plus features. Paid Pro Plus members see the same list (without the trial day line or countdown). Every feature is optional; use the ones that help your flying. A feature shows In use once PlaneWX sees it working.
Paid Pro Plus members have the same list at /settings/pro-plus-setup, linked from Profile > Pro Plus features. Paid members also see it as a card on Home / My Trips, and the card goes away once PlaneWX sees the three Pro Plus features below (Pre-Flight Text, Auto-Briefing on File and Ground Protection) working. The paid view has the same features and In use lines, with no day count or trial lines.
PlaneWX is one input to your go or no-go, alongside your FAA briefing and your own judgment.
Welcome email
You get one welcome email when the trial starts (from Mark at PlaneWX). It links to your Pro Plus features page. Signup trials get “Welcome to PlaneWX. Your N days of Pro Plus start now”, where N is the length of your trial. Upgrade trials (Casual or Pro to Pro Plus) get a “Welcome to Pro Plus” email that says your current plan and rate stay the same and there is nothing to cancel. Double-activating the trial does not send a second copy.
The features list
During a trial, the card is on Home. Paid Pro Plus members open it from Profile > Pro Plus features (/settings/pro-plus-setup). Trial members can open the same page there too. You will see a dark card titled Welcome to Pro Plus. During a trial the card also shows Day N of M (M is your trial length), and in the last 7 days how many days are left. Paid members see the same card under the title Pro Plus features, with no day count. The card on Home / My Trips goes away once PlaneWX sees the three Pro Plus features below (Pre-Flight Text, Auto-Briefing on File and Ground Protection) working. Once the card has gone away it stays gone, even if you later remove your phone or turn a feature off; the list is still in Profile > Pro Plus features. The features:
- Pre-Flight Text - your WX Score by text about 30 minutes before departure. Pre-Flight Text shows In use once it is on and your phone is verified, since the texts go to that phone. If it is on and your phone is not verified, the row says On and shows Verify your phone.
- Auto-Briefing on File - when a flight plan is filed for your tail, the trip and briefing are waiting. Auto-Brief help
- Ground Protection - hourly watch on a parked aircraft. Ground Protection help
Phone verification is separate: it lets PlaneWX send you text alerts and is not one of the Pro Plus features above (Pre-Flight Text help). Also on the list: AI Assistant connector (Claude, Grok, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity), shown when the PlaneWX connector is available for Pro Plus; all five are live for Pro Plus (Connector help), and the PlaneWX iOS beta app (TestFlight). The iOS beta app starts a trip from a ForeFlight PDF shared to PlaneWX. PlaneWX cannot see that one, so tap I have it to show it as in use, and Undo to clear it.
Later trial emails
Signup trials (new pilots): about a week in, PlaneWX may send one day-7 email. It lists Pro Plus features in case they help. All of them are optional, and none has to be turned on.
Upgrade trials (Casual or Pro to Pro Plus): there is no day-7 nudge. About 3 days before the trial ends, PlaneWX sends a “trial ending soon” email once. It shows your trial usage (Pro Plus briefings run), says you go back to your current plan and rate automatically with nothing to cancel, and has a Keep Pro Plus button. On your profile, upgrade trials see Keep Pro Plus after your trial copy and Pro Plus monthly or annual cards, not the signup “lose access” wording.
